We are now going to start transferring all accounts in VPS1 server (server being used by nolimitshost.org) to server i79202. Transfer can take 2 to 3 days, depending on the amount of files of our clients.

This will only affect accounts in VPS1 server. You will know if you are in VPS1 server if:

(1) you see “VPS1″ as “Server Name” when you log in to your cPanel or;
(2) your website main ip address (A record) is 64.120.134.166

It has come to our attention that our VPS1 server, which is used by Nolimitshost.org for free hosting and a very few paid hosting clients, is experiencing random Internal Server error from time to time.

With this, we have decided to move all accounts to i79202 server on August 14 2010, with the exception of paid clients who can wish to request to move to i78602 server now or before August 14. If we didn’t receive any request from our paid clients in VPS1 server to move to our other server, we will move them by August 14, 2010 in i79202 server.

We do allow our users to run Free Hosting sites provided that free hosting accounts will not exceed 20% of the total number of clients you have. This includes offering hosting plans greater than 3 GB in space for ridiculously low price. Anyone offering hosting more than 5 GB space with amount less or equal to $2/month or $5/year is considered as free hosting, unless a prior agreement with us has been made. This is because it’s often used to abuse our resources and we reserve the right to set a limit over an account with or without prior notice.

Please be careful on giving free hosting or free blog hosting. You don’t want to get yourself and us (Nolimitshost) in trouble.

As a reference, we would like to point out what happened to Blogetery. This site provides free Wordpress hosting for some months now. However, recently, the U.S. Federal Government requested the data center / server provider to take the server offline immediately. The data center appeared to receive instructions / court order not to speak any more details about it so the reason for the server take down request has not yet been known to anybody.

This site has received 2 DMCA take down requests to specific websites prior to the entire server take down court order. As you can see, unless you can police each of your free hostees, never run a free hosting site. Reason being is all of us (yes even us) can go to jail if we aren’t rigorous enough in checking our clients / hostees websites for possible law violation.

Another same incident happened some months back. This site was hosting free forums. These forums were used to post links to illegal scripts and warez. Apparently, one of the links posted in this forum contains hacking script which was used to hack a government facility. It turned out that the host was tracked down and went to jail for almost 2 years, even though he’s not the one who actually posted the link.

We hope that this will serve as a lesson to all of us. As hosts, we are responsible for our clients / hostees websites.

We are driving to use only Intel Core i7 servers to serve all our paid hosting clients. As such, we are going to start migrating all accounts from Q66001 server on to the core i7 servers we have on July 18, 2010 12:00 AM UTC+8. The transfer may last up to 3 days. We will keep you posted on the progress.

We strongly advise not to make any updates to your websites during the migration to make sure you will not lose these updates. We will send each customers residing in Q66001 separate emails about their respective custom nameserver IPs.

To know if you are in Q66001 server, please log in to your cPanel and check if the “Server Name” shows “Q66001″ (without quotes).

As a token of appreciation for being our client for some time now, for your continued support, and for bearing the connection problems that happened last night, we are giving each of our client residing in i7860 server a free .com/.net/.org domain registration for the first year.

How does it work?
1. Check if your site is residing in i7860 server by logging to your cPanel control panel and check the Server Name. It should show i7860.
2. Decide what domain name you want us to register for you. Make sure the domain name is available for registration. You are entitled to 1 .com or .net or .org domain name.
3. Please log a ticket to our “Accounts” department by logging in to our client area @ http://client.nlharea.com and inform us the domain name you want us to register for you. This promotion ends on July 05, 2010 9:00 AM GMT+8.
4. On the 9th month of the life of your domain, you would need to inform us if you want to renew the domain name through us or if you want this domain to be transferred somewhere else otherwise your domain name will expire after the first year.

We have received reports last night that some people have difficulty accessing their websites. It has come to our attention that this problem is isolated to some ISPs throughout the globe. We have, however, already tried 10 ISPs in Singapore, Philippines, India and Australia and they seem to be fine connecting to i7860 server. We have also tried accessing through several proxies, one of which is the ever reliable anonymouse.org and sites are loading perfectly.

If you have trouble accessing your website, the first step is to submit a support ticket stating your IP address. This way, we can check if your IP address is blocked. If your IP is not blocked, please try to check your site using anonymouse.org to see if it’s loading from there. If it does, then this is isolated to your ISP. You would need to contact your ISP for this and check their peering connectivity to our server.

In addition, please do a traceroute to your website from your PC. For Windows user, please go to Command prompt, and type “tracert yourwebsite.com” without the quotes. Also replace yourwebsite.com with your real website domain name. This way we will be able to check which internet peering is specifically having problems.
